CRICKET PAVILION NAMING
In memory of
Geoffrey William Lees (1st July 1920 – 17th August 2012)
Headmaster of St Bees School from 1964 to 1980
The Pavilion Naming will take place at 2.45pm on
Saturday 13th September, as part of St Beghians’ Day.
Geoffrey Lees was educated at King’s School, Rochester before attending Downing College, Cambridge. His great love was cricket and whilst studying at Downing College, Lees made his first-class debut for Cambridge University against Essex at Fenner's. He made a second first-class appearance in that season for the university against Middlesex also at Fenner's. He later made a first-class appearance for Sussex against Leicestershire in the 1951 County Championship
at the County Ground, Hove. Mr Lees was also an excellent Squash and Eton Fives player.
It is a privilege to welcome Joan, his wife for many years, to open the Cricket Pavilion at St Bees, which bears his name.
We look forward to seeing you there.
